Ternion Corporation to sponsor Serious Games Showcase ahead of FLAMES Unreal Engine Option release

Home / News Releases / Ternion Corporation to sponsor Serious Games Showcase ahead of FLAMES Unreal Engine Option release

Some things just go together, like a fully customizable framework and a game created to teach. FLAMES is that framework, and its creator, Ternion Corporation, is set to sponsor the 2023 Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C), where competitors will go head-to-head for a chance to showcase their games, developed to fulfill a specific learning need, on the exhibit floor during I/ITSEC.

“We are very close to our FLAMES Unreal Engine Option release, and we want the serious game developers to see what it can do,” said Brad Spearing, Ternion president and FLAMES product manager. “Which is ultimately why we decided to sponsor SGS&C.”

Available soon, the FLAMES Unreal Engine Option tightly integrates FLAMES, the world’s most capable constructive simulation framework, with Unreal Engine, the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation tool. The result is the ultimate framework for the creation of serious games and 3D, entity-level constructive and virtual simulations.

“With the FLAMES Unreal Engine Option, you get a more capable product,” said Spearing. “FLAMES makes it possible to create easy-to-use simulations that can be modified as learning requirements change. Unreal Engine adds stunning visual and audio effects for unparalleled realism. The combination is the perfect tool for the creation of serious games. We hope to see SGS&C competitors using the FLAMES Unreal Engine Option in the future. In fact, we’d like to invite them to use it now. There is a beta version available. Contact Ternion, and we can get you set up as a beta user. These competitors represent the future of technology, and we are excited to see what they can do.”

The SGS&C welcomes industry, government, and student developers of serious games, who will be evaluated by industry experts in the following categories:

  • Best General Audience Game
  • Best Government Audience Game
  • Best Student Developed Game
  • Best Serious Game Innovation
  • Best XR Game

Finalists chosen after a rigorous evaluation are invited to showcase their games in the SGS&C booth at I/ITSEC. There are also two additional categories: Student’s Choice, picked by students and the People’s Choice, voted on by I/ITSEC attendees. All winners are announced on November 30, 2023.

“It’s really exciting to have Ternion corporation as a new sponsor for this year’s Serious Games Showcase & Challenge,” said Jenn McNamara, SGS&C director. “Having a large-scale simulation provider with the established FLAMES product investing to support the Challenge really highlights how serious games and simulation work together in the virtual space. We are thankful to the Ternion team for their SGS&C sponsorship!”
